Product photography for the launch of a new silver necklace pencil

This project involved creating lifestyle photography for Yard-O-Led, the historic British brand known for its handcrafted sterling silver writing instruments and accessories. For this collaboration, I produced a series of visual assets designed to introduce and promote a new silver necklace pencil from their collection.

The goal of the project was to create elegant, illustrative imagery that would communicate the refined character of the product while remaining versatile enough for use across multiple marketing channels.

Project Scope

The photographs created during this project were intended for several communication platforms, including:

  • the official Yard-O-Led website
  • newsletter campaigns
  • social media communication

Because the necklace represents a subtle and elegant accessory, the visual direction focused on presenting it within a natural lifestyle context, where the jewelry could appear both refined and wearable.

Creative Approach

Rather than relying on static product shots alone, the concept was built around human presence and natural movement. The necklace was photographed on models in carefully composed lifestyle scenes, allowing the product to feel more personal and relatable.

The goal was to show how the piece behaves in real life — how it sits on the neck, how it catches light, and how it complements different styles and personalities.

To achieve this, the project included four different models, each bringing a slightly different visual identity to the images. This allowed the brand to present the necklace in multiple contexts while maintaining a consistent visual style.

In one of the shoots, two models appeared together in the same frame, creating a more dynamic composition and introducing a sense of interaction and storytelling within the imagery.

Visual Direction

The photography emphasized:

  • the natural elegance of sterling silver
  • subtle reflections and surface texture
  • soft lighting that highlights the craftsmanship
  • authentic human gestures and expressions
  • compositions that keep the product visually central

The aim was to balance lifestyle storytelling with product clarity, ensuring that the necklace remained the focal point of every image.

Production

The production process involved coordinating multiple shoots with the four models, adapting the lighting and composition to suit different looks and moods while maintaining a cohesive visual identity across the entire set of images.

Working with multiple subjects allowed the content to feel varied and fresh, while still delivering a consistent visual language suitable for brand communication.

Outcome

The final photographs delivered a versatile set of visuals that Yard-O-Led could use across its communication channels. The images were successfully implemented on the brand’s website, in newsletters, and on social media, supporting the introduction of the new necklace.

By combining lifestyle photography with careful product focus, the project created content that highlights both the craftsmanship of the jewelry and the human element that brings it to life.

Why This Project Matters

This collaboration demonstrates an important aspect of product photography: the ability to translate a crafted object into imagery that feels both elegant and relatable.

By working with multiple models and lifestyle compositions, the final content allowed the product to be presented not only as an object, but as something that naturally becomes part of everyday personal style.

The result is a body of images that helps communicate the timeless and refined character of Yard-O-Led’s silver craftsmanship while remaining visually engaging across modern digital platforms.
